Gifted & Talented

You may download a form from the links below or pick up a form in the front office.  Please return the form (which is a checklist of characteristics) to the office or your child’s teacher.  Ms. Miller, our librarian, is Ortega’s advocate for our Gifted and Talented students and you may ask her any questions you have about the program or nomination process.

Superstar Highlights
Check out our superstars in the Gifted & Talented Program!

  • Students in kindergarten through 12th grade are eligible to be screened for Gifted and Talented (GT) in Austin ISD through a nomination process.
  • All campuses in Austin ISD provide screening, identification, and services for Gifted and Talented students.
  • Elementary GT services include instruction by a teacher with the appropriate GT Foundations training within a cluster grouping model (small group of identified GT students within the general education classroom) which allows for opportunities for curricular tasks that include greater depth, complexity, and pacing while working independently and with other GT students as well as students not identified.
